Summary about Carcinoid Tumor in English

Carcinoid tumors are slow-growing cancer that can occur in different parts of the body. Carcinoid tumors, which are a subset of tumors called neuroendocrine tumors, usually start in the digestive tract (stomach, cecum, small intestine, large intestine, rectum) or in the lungs. Carcinoid tumors often cause late signs and symptoms in the disease. Carcinoid tumors can produce and release hormones into your body that cause signs and symptoms such as diarrhea or redness. Treatment of carcinoid tumors usually involves surgery and may include medications.

These are a special type of tumor which are slow growing in nature and can affect any part of the body. They are the subtype of neuroendocrine tumors which majorly affect the digestive tract or lungs.

Causes:

It is majorly caused by any mutation in the DNA. This mutation causes uncontrolled cell division which results in the tumor formation.

Symptoms:

Like all other cancer, these tumors also survive inside the body for a long time without showing any significant signs and symptoms but the following signs may be unrevealing this deadly situation.

• Diarrhea
• Weight gain
• Pink or purple marks on the skin
