Summary about Nephritis in English

The kidneys are bean-shaped organs that filter the blood to remove excess water and waste. Nephritis is a condition in which nephrons, functional units of the kidneys, become inflamed. This inflammation can affect kidney function. Nephritis depending upon its type may affect parts of kidney such as glomerulus, tubules, and interstitial tissues.

There are three types of nephritis with different causes. This inflammation arises due to infections and toxins or by autoimmune disorders. Pain and urine problems are indications of this problem.  While some types appear suddenly, others develop as part of the chronic disease and require ongoing management. Usually, it is not very dangerous and is cured with treatment. You will need to get in touch with a good nephrologist. You can use marham.pk to find and consult the best nephrologist.

Symptoms of Nephritis

  • Pain while urinating
  • Pelvic pain
  • Frequent urination

Causes of Nephritis

Nephritis happens to be of three different types. All three types have different causes as mentioned below:

  1. Interstitial Nephritis:
This type of nephritis can result from an allergic reaction due to medicines like antibiotics. Low level of potassium is another cause of this problem. Prolonged use of certain medicines can be detrimental for kidney health and can lead to interstitial nephritis.
  2. Pyelonephritis:
This type of nephritis is mostly a result of infection due to E.coli. Other possible causes are cystoscopy, kidney stones, and surgeries of kidney or bladder.
  3. Glomerulonephritis:
The exact cause of glomerulonephritis is not known however it is more prevalent in cancer patients. It can also result due to immune disorders and abscess that may travel to the kidney via blood.

Risk Factors of Nephritis

People who have a family history of kidney problems, recent surgery of urinary tract, undergo excessive use of antibiotics and patients suffering from immune system disorders are at an elevated risk of having nephritis.

Preventive Measures of Nephritis

To prevent nephritis always consult your doctor before using any medicine. Always use medicines as prescribed. In case of any of the symptoms consult your doctor immediately. Watch your sodium intake and eat fresh produce instead of prepackaged ones.
