Noise induced hearing loss is permanent damage to the tiny hair cells in the ears, known as stereocilia, due to the loud sounds. It is caused by being around loud noise for long period of time. It can also occur when you are exposed to loud sound but for short period of time like in gun shot.
Noise induced hearing loss is the second most common cause of hearing loss.
A person may experience the following symptoms in mild cases or when your noise induced hearing loss starts;
The major cause of noise induced hearing loss is the over exposure to loud noises for long period of time or exposure to very loud noise for a short period of time (gun shot, explosion).
Treatment
There is no treatment for permanent hearing loss caused by the noise induced hearing loss. The only treatment to deal with this problem is to use hearing aids and hearing implants like cochlear implants.
