Laryngeal cancer refers to cancerous tumors that develop in the throat (pharynx), vocal box (larynx) or tonsils. Your neck is a muscular tube that starts behind the nose and ends in the throat. It usually starts in the flat cells that are in your neck. Your voice mail is located right under your neck and is also prone to throat cancer. The voicemail consists of cartilage and contains the vocal cords that vibrate to produce a sound when you speak. It can also affect the piece of cartilage (epiglottis), which serves as a cover for the trachea. Cancer of the tonsils, another form of cancer of that, affects the tonsils that are in the neck.
