Talk to Anesthesiology on Spinal Anaesthesia Side Effects

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, Karachi

I want to ask how long one can feel side effects after spinal anaesthesia. I had c sec 3.5 years back with spinal anaesthesia, after which I felt severe headache for 2 weeks doctor gave different pain killers for it. within 2months of c sec I started feeling numbness in hands and pain & swelling in left knee, MRI diagnoses knee effusion. Apart from this I also had back issue and memory loss issue and today after 3.5 years back issue increasing day by day also my brain/memory issue getting worse (difficulty in thinking and perform task on time). Though I had spinal anaesthesia but I slept my whole c-sec? Is it normal? Please suggest what should I do? I'm getting weak day by day.

Assalam o alaikum. I'll suggest don't correlate these issues with 3.5 years back spinal anesthesia. I'll suggest get fresh mri LUMBOSACRAL SPINE and ct scan brain. You must consult qualified neuro physician and also update me images and report of MRI AND CT SCAN.
Meanwhile take tab busron 5mg subhu sham. TAB synflex subhu sham and tab myonal subhu sham for 10 days. Take D Tress 042-32591427, IU once in 15 days and add any multi vitamin. Also you need physiotherapy.
Don't hesitate to contact anytime.

Dear , patient with your history you have got multiple issues and you may need to manage with different consultants . ( i will try to guide you as per your history )
1. headache after spinal Anesthesia :
this can happen and is complication of spinal Anesthesia have multiple option to manage it but suffering for 2 weeks , it would have been better managed but now it has gone .now other problems has nothing to do with this .

2. numbness in hand :
multiple reason can be cause further need evaluation . cause can be
a.Tenosynovitis
b . carpel tunnel syndrome .
c. cervical spine nerve compression .

3.memory issue :
you need to consult a neurophysician for this .

4. knee swelling :
probably it is osteoarthritic and you need calcium supplement and orthopaedic
consult for exclusion of pathology .
if no infection than pain can be managed with multiple ways

You should have cosulted your Anesthesia specialist if you felt headache for 2 weeks,it is treatable issue, secondly if you still feel backach then you can go for MRI lumber spine to see the actual issue

Anesthetist in Peshawar - Dr. Muhammad Shabeer Khan

as you mention in your history so firstly headachy is one of the complication of spinal anesthesia but not long term .The other's problems that your mention does not related to spinal anesthesia.so seek other consultant like Neuro physician or orthopedic for these problems

And do you think it is related to spinal Anesthesia?? Yes, you can have headache after spinal Anesthesia simply because your Anesthetist used a thicker needle with cutting edge. Call me through Marham, I should be able to resolve your issues. Dr Monga Consultant Obstetric Anesthesiologist Royal Family Physician of the State of Qatar
