Asking for Self, Male, 62 years old, Jeddah

I went through an angioplasty 3 years back in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 2 stents were implemented. Was using Plavix 75 and Asprin 80 for all the time till now. Shall I continue with Plavix 75 or can I discontinue it and use Asprin 89 only.?

1) most guidelines reccommend two antiolatelet drugs ( aspirin and plavix) for at least one year after angioplasty.
after that, it can be reduced to just asoirin depending on your symptoms (if you continue to have chest pains) your risk factors and advice of your doctor. also aspurin and plavix are only one way to save you from further heart disease. you should also be on other heart protective medicines.
the best thing to do is to consult a cardiologist or medical specialist to discuss this issue as well as to make sure you are receiving all other cardiac agents.

You just need to continue with aspirin 81 mg (available Saudi), no need of plavix any more, even if drug eluting stents were used.
Good luck,
