Assalam o alykum doctor sahab, i m 60 + and having arrthymias PVCs and have mild MVP for last 36 years, for last two days I got fever 102, 101 and bidy ach, so.i think it is viral as it is common presently in Karachi/after rain. Now I have started Augmentin 625 from yesterday but fever is 101 and so much pain.in phyrangitis, SIR CAN I START AZITHROMYCIN AS I HAVE READ THAT IT CAN INITIATE ARRTHMIYAS, SO IS IT SAVE TO USE AZHITROMYCIN.

If the QT interval on your previous ECG s is not prolonged then it is ok.
why are you taking antibiotics for a viral infection. please dont take antibiotics unnecessarily as viral infections dont need to be treated with antibiotics especially not azithromycin. if you are having simple flu, fever, sore throat and cough then its viral and it will self resolve within a week or 2. just take panadol 2 tablets every 6 hours for fever and pain. for sore throat do salt water gargles. if you have isolated sore throat without flu and cough, then you can continue augmentin.
