Asking for Self, Female, 20 years old, Bahawalpur

I'm 20 years old and since a few days, I'm experiencing throbbing palpitations that become so severe at one moment and then become normal for next few seconds followed by another forceful palpitation after a while and is a cause of continuous anxiety as it happens at NIGHT only. I've beem having problem of rapid heart beat sometimes since past few years amd doctor told me to take INDERAL whenever I feel so. I've no medical history other than this related to it. Also I'm having seasonal allergy now a days because of wheat harvesting for which I was taking Montika 10mg daily at night that I quit because I thought it to be the cause of palpitations but the situation is samr despite the fact that I've not taken it since 3-4 days. Need medical assistance, JazakAllah!

You need to be investigated by a qualified cardiologist to rule out any cardiac problem and treatment accordingly. At the moment if you have history of allergy then Inderal is not a good choice as it aggregates the asthma. So contact a cardiologist for better management.

I got it checked from a senior cardiologist of my city few years back and he didn't suggest ecg. However I'm not taking inderal now a days because of this seasonal asthma. Thankyou!

Your heart rate/ pulse beats per minute and your BP. Do you prefer hot weather or cold? Any swelling in the neck?

My BP is always low. Systolic is always less than 105 and diastolic varies around 60-65. Heart rate varies from 85-110. I prefer cold weather. I don't have any swelling in neck for now but I feel mild pain while swallowing on the right side of neck since 2 days.

Also to take it in your consideration, as it might be related to thyroid function acc to some respected doctors, I'm underweight. I weigh 43 kgs and my height is 5'5.

The problem with Inderal is that it doesn’t stay in the body beyond 12 hours. So if you don’t take it every 12 hours it rather worsen palpitations. What happens is that it slow down your heart rate which lasts for 12 hours. If you don’t take inderal every 12 hours your heart starts racing again. Acceleration and deceleration of the heart is more disturbing for the patient. Would suggest ECG and thyroid function tests. Inderal can be substituted with some longer acting drug more selectively acting on the heart than provoking asthma.

Alright I'll surely go for that. And I've not been having inderal since 6 months now and this problem arose few days back and happens at night only.
