with age your father must be having knee osteoarthritis. please read about it or google it. He needs to be checked up by orthopedic surgeon nearby you.
for pain medication you can give
panadol, brufen , nims, tramal p, synflex, brexin
however it is not the solution.
He needs weight bearing xrays of knee joint. ,serum uric acid, and examination.
so please consult whosoever nearby you.
