Asking for Self, Female, 42 years old, Islamabad
About 5 weeks back i started experiencing mild pain at the back of my right heel. Over the weeks the pain increased and has become quite severe now.
The pain increases: 1. After waking up in the morning and in the first 5-7 mins of walking. Even during the rest of the day, there is pain with walking. 2. If i'm sitting for 15-30 mins and then start walking, the pain starts. 3. Going done the steps in a normal manner has been almost impossible due to the severity of the pain for the last 3 weeks. I have to take one step at a time.
Investigation: Recently i had the X-Ray done for my heels and both heels have bone spurs. My heels had been hurting for a few years, but the pain had subsided over the last few months. The attached X-ray is of my right foot. The left foot also has a similar bone spur. Alhumdolilah there is no pain in the left foot. (No MRI/US done). Vit D = 32.9 ng/mL
The exact point of my pain is the point where the Achilles Tendon meets the heel bone. There
yes thats a spur. vit D is in normal range. take pain killers. use soft silicone pads with your shoes.
steroid injections may relieve some pain.

Looks to be an Halglunds deformity.
In terms of a conservative approach through orthotics, you could try
*silicone gel heel cups to offload the spur.
*a heel raise to relax the achilles tendon
