Asking For Self, Female 24, Rawalpindi
kindly, are there any side effects of scaling the polishing of teeth. will teeth become more sensitive ?
it's normal just use any sensitive toothpaste repeatedly on the teeth for few minutes 3 to 4 times in a day...
if v heavy plaque is cleaned then may or may not feel senstivity . can subside by using senstivity toothpaste .othrwise scaling is healthy for ur teeth n gums .
No. sensitivity occurs because usually before scaling teeth are covered with a layer of deposits( which are harmful foe the gums and contain loads of bacteria). these deposits are called calculus and they cause gum and bone recession. when removed it exposes the part of your tooth which is sensitive. but this sensitivity goes away in 7 to 14 days with use of tooth paste like sensodyne and a mouthwash.
Scalling and polishing when indicated is not bad for teeth . Provided you do it at a good standard dental clinic and after wards take care of your teeth . Your dentist should teach you how to take care of your teeth at home .
if there is heavy calculus after scaling u can feel sensitivity few days. but it will end after few days
A proper technique n expert hand will do very little damage. Sensitivity for 24 hours after scaling is not a problem case to case is important
if scaling is done properly then their will be no side effects
It depends on ur teeth condition. if there is heavy plaque then u will have sensitivity for some days. if that occurs use sensodye rapid action. leave it for a minute and then brush ur teeth. it will settle after somedays. there are no more side effects.
