Talk to Dentist on Tooth Cavity
Asking For Self, Male, 23 Years old, Pakistan
I’m facing cavity on both sides of mouth. Three teeth are effected by it. I went to a Dentist and he suggested silver filling. I want to ask is silver filling good or not. Because I researched and found it contains mercury.

Yes... Now composite filling is good and tooth colour is also same
Now a days silver fillings are not considering by modern day dentist. We prefer composite filling (tooth coloured filling) with UV light laser, it is best among all and long lasting.

silver filling is internationally banned n no more used in any reputed clinic or hospitals as it may cause mercury poisoning
other filling options are available which are far more superior than silver amalgam filling

Then why doctors suggest silver filling if its banned? Because I asked another one and he said silver is best and log lasting. I am from abbottabad.

its very good but new studies state since it has mercury there's a small 0.99 % chance to cause cancer . so better not to take risk and white composite filling which is very good and commonly known as laser filling

aoa it is totally save. the amount of filling in mercury is not dangerous . any how if ur not satisfied u can go for gic or composite fillings
Though internationally Silver-Mercury Filling is not used as a restorative material , due to the release of Mercury in the mouth after taking hot drinks or food, but in areas like India-Pakistan in some cities even in dental institutes it is being used by the undergraduates as to fulfil the requirement of their clinical quota. Hence when using Silver-Mercury filling the dentist should make sure that excess mercury is removed from the filling material before it is placed in the cavity. Silver filling have a better strength as compared to White Resin Light cure filling material. In Pakistan both as filling material are used. I don't think there is any harm in using it.
