Talk to Dermatologist on Severe Acne

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 27 years old, Karachi

I am having severe acne on cheeks and jaw line since 1 month. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed: Zinacef (Cefuroxime) 250mg for 25 days morning and night, Sizzle (fexofenadine) 120mg for 10 days morning and night, Fucidin H cream 3 times a day for 10 days.

He also prescribed Isotretinoin for 30days. I read all the side effects of this medicine. And now i m extremely confused that should i take this medicine or not. My wedding is due in 2 months.

Should i take this medicine? Or is there any other medicine which can cure the acne?

Isotretinoin is not good for pregnancy and ladies who want to be pregnant in near future. Also it raises cholesterol levels in body.
Your acne may become better by topical isotrex gel applying at night only daily and washing in morning.
Acne improves after using medicine for 3 months. If using isotretinoin tablets avoid pregnancy after stopping drug for a month atleast.

You should start isotretinoin only if u plan not to conceive immediately after marriage.
As it affects the baby. You will need to take some contraceptives as well after marriage.
You cannot conceive for 6 months after stopping the medicine.
