Talk to Dermatologist on Toe Nail Issue
Asking for Self, Male, 29 years old, Karachi
Please find enclosed picture. Few days back, I wore a shoe that I have abandoned for a long time.
Upon wearing it, i realized it is pretty tightl-fitted maybe due to prolonged non-usage. I jogged few times using the same shoe.
After a day or two, the toe nail's color turned purple and then this patch beneath the nail. Though it is somehow lesser in extent, but it is there.
Kindly advise regarding this. Thanks

As of now i think the oxygen supply to ur nail area was compromised due to tight shoes.. secondly i can see your nail has grown out also....
Please do not wear tight shoes and cut the area of nail that is going beyond the skin margin. Do not put weight on thr nail. Let it grow out. IA all will be fine

This is traumatic lesion.
Do nothing it will go away with time.

That’s great. Most likely there’s nothing to worry about. This discolouration can occur due to a halt in blood supply to toe nails upon wearing tight shoes or wearing shoes with big toe nails (as can be seen in ur picture). It will go away with time and no t/m is needed. But just beware that if it doesn’t go away, or u develop any pain or ulceration in a few days then u ll need further evaluation.
