Asking For Father, Male 60, Clifton, Karachi

My dad got diagnosed with diabetes a week ago with a result of 131mg/dL, as well as with hypertension too which is Alhumdulilah now in control. I, being a medical undergraduate kept a high check on him, his diet and his daily routine activities. He was prescribed GLUCOPHAGE 500 twice a day. Now for the past two days, his RBS level in ranging between 95-115, which is low Even had sweets i.e. candies, honey, dates and fruits too but yet again the RBS level my GLUCOMETER is displaying is between the above mentioned value My query is that, could the gluco meter device might not be working properly having said that I have changed the strips as well as the battery cell of the device too. Second query is that, is it normal to have this much of blood sugar level in this age also after being diagnosed with diabetes? Concerned Endocrinologists prompt response shall ease my stress at the immediate.

Regards.

Ok please go for HbA1C levels and fasting BSR for 5 days along with 2 hour post prandial glucose. make a chart of that ,better to get 1 BSR reading from the venous blood. secondly 95-115 RBS is low he needs to reduce dose glucophage 500mg to once in morning. make of record of FBS and 2 hours Post prandial for atleast 5 days .nd get his HbA1C levels. then according to records decision and adjustment of his antidiabetic drug will be made

First of all we need to establish whether he has diabetes or not? Was his diabetes diagnosed only on one random blood sugar reading? You will need to get his HbA1c done ASAP and then we will discuss further

that's why fasting should be at least 8 hours that means he has good control just follow him reading target goal FBS upto 110 and RBS under 160 and HbA1c less than 6.5
