my ant has been suffering from diabetes from last 6 years.diabetes remain sometimes normal and some time high. used insulin for 2 years.. now her legs become swelled enough that difficult to walk. remain continue pain in legs and foot feel like burnuing. which specialist should be checked and what test required to do before visit doctor??
Hba1c. Urine ce. Urea. Creatinine. Uric acid. TSH
The primary concern is about the management of diabetes. If the blood sugar level remains under a proper range and still the legs swelling persist and walking is difficult then consult an experienced Physiotherapist. Physiotherapy can help an individual to reduce swelling in foot and legs and manage a proper plan of exercise to strengthen muscles and allow the individual attain independent painfree walking....
Hi there. Diabetes can affect kidneys (called nephropathy) and nerves of the body (diabetic neuropathy). The legs swelling could be either due to diabetic neuropathy or nephropathy but needs thorough examination to rule out other causes. Might need some tests also. But first thing is how is the blood sugar control.
