The reasons are multiple for simple ear wax to ear infection. Even dental issues from same side can give a feeling of ear ache.
For now use:
Gentamycin ear drops 2 drops three times per day, for 5 days or so with some pain killer like Acetaminophen 1 gm three or four times per day. Avoid cleaning and don't let water go inside.
See a physician if pain isn't relieved in a day or two.
