Asking for Self, Female, 27 years old, Karachi
Hi. Since a couple of years, whenever I get cold or viral infection I continue to have excessive mucus even after my medication course is completed. If I talk about the most recent time, I suffered a viral infection and I took Kestine (2 times), Azomax (1 time) and Prospan syrup (3times) for 5 days. My fever and viral infection ended but it has been around 2 weeks since then and I still have a lot of mucus (clear and transparent, almost like saliva but it is sticky). It seems like the more I take it out, the more it increases in my throat. I am tired of coughing it up and it makes my throat hurt. I cough it up so much that I had to use 5-6 whole tissue boxes in these 2 weeks. The mucus sticks to my throat so I have to keep clearing it otherwise I feel that it blocks my airways and I am unable to breathe properly. It gets really bad at night (or may be I feel more throat itchiness at that time) and doesn't let me sleep.
I dont know what to do about it. Nobody understands what this is
You need an ENT consultation. Proper examination and an X-RAY PNS.
You need to get a CT Scan PNS done along with serum IgE to exactly know the diagnosis and then treatment

Prof Dr Ayub
please get a CT scan PNS and visit an ENT specialist. Sometimes post viral inflamation persists and may need continued treatment.
Contact Marham to book an appointment with me if in Karachi
You need proper ent consult to rule out sinus or chest issues. Don't self medicate please.
