Talk to Ent Specialist on Tonsils

I had mumps virus which ended some days ago but now I have pain and swelling in tonsils, I also noticed some white spots. I consulted with an ENT, he said that it seems like my tonsil problem is old and they have become painful now due to the mumps virus. He has prescribed me multivitamins, iron, calcium, vitamin D, antiallergic, drops and Risek tablet. What could be the reason behind my tonsils? I'm worried if it's a permanent problem or it will ever heal or not with operation? please guide
