Please tag an opthalmologist. I have heard that dilating eyes for check up can cause angle closure glaucoma. i got my eyes checked after an injury to the eye and they dilated my eyes. after one month i went for a check up and they checked eye pressure and vision and all was perfect. is it possible that i get angle closure glaucoma due to that dilation now or in the future? i dont have any symptoms, no pain nothing. i can see clearly just my eyesight is a bit weak due to which my vision is a bit blurry.
Dr decides which eyes should not be dilated but dilated examination is important for the diagnosis of diseases of back of eye and even glaucoma.Dilating drops can temporarily increase eye pressure and qualified eye specialist uses caution for these drops .
Its not like that after dilatation of eyes one get angle closure glaucoma . In routine practice , many patients are dilated to examine their fundus that is back of the eye . However in few patients who have got narrow angle , ophthalmologist is careful about dilating as it can cause angle closure , but in your case you dont seem to be like one so dont worry .
100s of patients are diltted for diagnostic purposes in different hospitals daily.. No boday gets angle closure glaucoma with that.. Its a routine in opthalmology.. To examine fudus of the patient for detail examination
