Asking for Self, Female, 24 years old, Rawalpindi
I have an online job where I have to work constantly on a laptop for eight hours, six days in a week, a friend of mine suggested me to buy zero number spectacles in order to avoid any bad effects on eyes. its been a week and whenever i put them, my eyes and area around my eyes start hurting so much. is it normal? i did not use that much... should i continue with spectacles or not?
u dnt need zero num glasses...excessive near work causes eye strain n headache. have break of 5 to 10 mins after 30 mins use of screen and in that time dnt use mobile etc n try to see far objects. you can use eye lubricants like any artificial tears drop because excessive screen use and near work causes dryness also.
The glasses most probably aren’t zero. That’s why it’s hurting. There’s no need or use to use zero glasses. Stop using it.
As Salam o alaikum
Dr Shamshad Ali here.
Yes I second the comments of eye consultants posted eye with few suggestions.
Excessive work on screen either computer, laptop, tab, or mobile phone causes computer eye syndrome which leads to eye straining, burning, headaches, pain in back of neck, and feeling of tiredness after short time etc.
You need to
1. Make your sitting posture comfortable.
2. Maintain proper distance from screen.
3. Take short breaks from continuously seeing on screens.
4. Wash your eyes properly.
5. Use artificial tears eye drops as lubricants to avoid eye dryness.
6. Try to reduce time period being spent on screen.
7. Get eye sight checked by qualified eye care services, if glasses required then use them according to the advice of healthcare provider, otherwise don't use it unnecessarily.
Take care.
May Allah bless you always.
It’s mostly probably not a zero number spectacles or u urself have some error of refraction. Need to consult an eye specialist
