Asking for Self, Female, 30 years old, lahore

Dear Doctor, How should the expiry date of Contact lenses be determined? Should i keep on wearing them till they start causing irritation/blurring of vision or should i follow the optician's advice who said that they can be used for 1- 1.25 year on average? However the expiry date on the sealed bottle was for a couple of years as far as i can recall. Kindly advice

The expiration date on the lens package indicates the last month and year that the container should be considered free from contamination and the lenses inside safe to wear. It is not unusual for the expiration date of a soft contact lens to be four years from the date the lens was manufactured and packaged.
If contacts are approved to be used for 14 days, “it's two weeks from the time you open that lens package, it's not 14 days.
Your optician will be able to discuss with you what is best in your individual case, but as a general point, it's recommended that you wear your contact lenses for a maximum of 10-12 hours per day. Wearing your lenses for longer may cause your eyes to become uncomfortable, red and prone to infection.
thanks

Thank you very much for your query. All those who are wearing contact lenses much get their eye and contact lenses checked every three to sex months by the opticians.
