Asking for Mother, Female, 54 years old, Lahore
Respected Dr. My mother is suffering from swallowing problem since 2 months. Even though she cannot drink water too. A gastric Dr recommended us for her endoscopy and biopsy. And they diagnosed hiatal hernia. We treated for hiatal hernia but that treatment is not much effective she still cannot eat anything. Do you recommend a surgery or what else. Please guide me.
Surgery
asa
your mum diagnosis doesn't explain her hiatus hernia one can expect some degree of indigestion acid reflex but total inability to eat even fluids doesn't fit well .it is extremely common condition to have and usually with use of meds like omeprazole/lansoprazole symptoms well tolerated .trial of high dose ppi like omeprazole 40mg od x 1 month if no better get 2nd opinion about endoscopy .
