Talk to General Physician on COVID-19 Precautions

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Female, 26 years old, Islamabad

Hello, I have seen various doctors recommending the use of steam as a precaution against corona virus / treatment for early symptoms.

Isn't using steam an aerosol generating procedure? Wouldn't it increase the chances of transmission?

Please guide.

There is no evidence that steam would protect you specifically against COVID 19. It is good for general de congestion. Please practice social distancing and hand washing etc to protect yourself and your family.

Thank you for asking.
As far as steam is considered, there is no role of steam in prevention against Corona virus.. Regarding its role in transmission, as far as someone is not sneezing or coughing, disease cannot be transmitted only by steam.
