Smoking causes a variety of diseases which usually depends upon the amount of cigarettes u smoke per day and the duration of time u r smoking from. Something called \"pack year\".
For now u can do a plain chest X-ray PA view and show it to a qualified doctor. If he finds something wrong he can advise further tests. There r some diseases related to smoking which r not detected on an X-ray, but if u don't have a cough or shortness of breath, I would avoid doing any more tests.

smoking can damage lungs in many ways and can cause many conditions ranging from chronic bronchitis , Emphysema  ( COPD) to , interstitial lung disease, Malignancy ( Cancer). So, the choice of investigation depends on the patient's symptoms/clinical condition. However , as a preliminary test I would recommend a CXR and Spirometry to assess the lungs function.These are simple and inexpensive.
