Talk to General Physician on Sugar Level

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 30 years old, Lahore

Aslamualekum, I have been having fatigue, lightheaded sometimes headache since mid of Ramadan. Initially I thought it as a part of fasting. Now after after few days of eid I am eating properly but still having same symptoms then by chance I tested my sugar levels which was below 70 in the evening.then i took honey immediately and dinner after 15 mins i rechecked and value was 88 and after 2 hour 118.

On very next day morning fasting sugar was 64 and after 2 hour of beakfast it was 98. Then at night before sleep 131

Today fasting sugar was 69 and after 1.45hrs of having lunch it was 69. I again took honey half spoon and tea it went to 91 after 30 mins.

I am very confused and disturbed because of all this.

Do I need to take tests or what should I do?

you are suffering from recurrent hypoglycemia.
there are multiple causes which are responsible for this reason.
which include medications, infections, hormonal disorders, liver diseases, Kidney disease and some tumors.
kindly seek medical attention and your doctor will prescribe some lab tests to rule out the cause.

It appears you need to be investigated for insulin resistance where our body cells be it in muscles or liver do not respond well to insulin. Hence your cells can't use glucose from your blood for energy. To make it up, the body especially pancreas make more insulin. If not treated, this over time can lead to pre diabetes. Please first get your Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) done. Reach out for consultation when once done.

it does, but not to an extent that you have mentioned. Another suggestion would be to dedicatedly follow either one doctor or medical regime. Otherwise, you will be confused by day end and it won't serve the purpose at all.

Are u using any medicine for any disease?
Do u have history of diabetes in your family?
I recommend u following tests from some lab:
1-FBS(Fasting blood sugar)
2-OGTT
For these tests You need to go to any lab after 6 hrs of fasting(not eating ..can drink plain water) (Fasting not more than 6 hrs is better +/- 1hr)
you can ask if you don't understand any terminology...

Probably a case of insulinoma, 72 hrs supervised Fasting is therefore necessary to come up to a diagnosis.
Such patients must see a specialist immediately rather than posting symptoms.
History and clinical examination is mandatory in every medical condition.

Check ur weight and height and calculate ur body mass index by urself using formula (weight inkg ÷height in squere meters)
Sometimes in obese individuals it's the initial phase of diabetes mellitus in which insulin levels are higher than normal causing glucose in blood to fluctuate in a strange ways.
Again further history required in ur case.
