Asking For Mother, Female 50, Karachi

My mother has wet cough from a month and now because of taking various medicines and herbal treatments she has got upper abdominal pain from a few days as well. She has the condition of Spondylosis ( Neck Arthritis) from years due to which she also takes pain relievers and panadol constantly. Now because she is having three issues at once what medications can we give her and how so that all her medical conditions get treated and she doesn't get side effects and her condition doesn't worsen as well. What will be the right way of treatment?

General Practitioner in Bahawalpur - Dr. Muhammad Ishaq Raza

since she is taking a lot of pain killers, can you please name them if any other painkiller used apart from panadol.

Best way to know about optimum therapy for this kind of situation is to share all the details . Medicines she is taking and labs which are done previously.

you need to consult an internal medicine specialist for detailed history and examination. Certain pain killers can cause increased acidity which can lead to ulcers in stomach or intestine and cause abdominal pain. Wet cough also needs to be treated with antibiotics especially if there is history of fever and she should get her chest auscultated too. Please take her to a specialist in person, there are alot of things that are taken in consideration before starting management and treatment.

i hope you have a chest x-ray done. if not, get a chest x-ray, then consult a doctor for diagnostics of the cough. once we have a reason for cough, and a prescription, you'll need to discuss with a rheumatologist what final prescription she'll be taking. STOP self medication, STOP herbal medication.

General Practitioner in Karachi - Dr. Waseem Farman

Apparently it looks that reason of abdominal pain is due to taking so many medicines.
Is there any burning associated with pain.
my advice is stop all pain killers .only take paracetamol when needed. and get appointment for complete medical check up.
