I have received about 2 or 3 absorbed tetanus toxoid vaccines in last 10 years. the last vaccine i received was about 5 years a go. how long am i protected against tetanus and doesnt need a booster dose? provided that i dont know my status of primary immunization against tetanus. but i have received multiple doses of tetanus vaccines in my life after my adulthood. may be more than 7 or 8.
epi vaccination schedule has 3 doses 1 month apart ,In adult life ,if u have any wound ,in dirty environment u should hav T.T injection ,once injection given could protect against tetnus upto 5 years

tetanus toxoid, full vaccination, gives complete protection for 5 years.
it gives protection against clean injuries for 10 years. clean injuries mean wounds which are not dirtied by mud, or soil, or horse or other animal dung.
for adults who have received complete vaccination in childhood, a booster dose every 10 years is reccommended. if a very contaminated wound occurs during intervening 10 years, a single injection given at time of injury will restore full protection.
10 yr booster works ..then u have to make it again in children and 5yr in adults

You don't need a booster dose if you are not having dirty wounds. Tetanus occurs in people who have wounds contaminated with soil, dirt or animal dung. You should get tetanus vaccine booster if you get any skin breech in a dirty environment, like roadside, playing fields etc. Otherwise you don't need TT vaccine. However literature recommends a booster dose every 10 years after the last dose.
Booster dose every 5 year, but no need until you have a contaminated open wound. Or you are umdergoing any surgical procedure.
