Talk to General Practitioner on Blister On Finger - Diabetes Patient

person-avatar

Asking For Mother, Female 60, Karachi

As Salam O Alaikum,

My mother is a diabetic patient, a few days back while cooking some hot oil popped on her hand and she got a blister on one finger.

That blister is now popped and causing quite pain. Her sugar is moderate 120 fasting and 140 random but her finger below that blister is getting numb, we are using Cicatrin powder to soak that blister as its having abscess coming out now.

Should she take any antibiotic for it or just keep using Cicatrin powder and it will get better on its own? Please advise.

General Practitioner in Khanewal - Dr. Rama Hassan

first she should keep her wound dry. and secondly start using antibiotic.

Please see the picture attached of the blister in my new comment under this thread. A local doctor advised Keflex 500 mg thrice a day for 7 days and polyfex cream to be applied. Is this appropriate?
