Asking For Mother, Female 46, Sargodha
My mother has been taking Ziscar 5mg, Concor 2.5mg, spiromide 20, and Warfin 5mg regularly for more than 2 years after her aortic root replacement surgery. Now she has been experiencing dry coughs and headache since the past 5 days. Please help me out because it is making her uneasy. Thank you.

Ziscar can cause dry cough.
and how is her blood pressure like?
Ziscar is an ACE inhibitor and it has a side effect of dry cough. and with cough headache can happen.
It can be a side effect of ziscar as these can cause dry cough and swelling around lips.. u can shift from ziscar to tab advant 8mg

By the symptoms you have told even though Ziscar (lisinopril) by itself can cause dry cough
but in the situation of current pandemic the things that can be done are:
Close observation by the patient herself of new or worsening symptoms
isolation to a room as a precaution n prevention if it is covid
getting the patient tested for corona
patient should keep hydrating herself
wearing surgical mask as a self precaution and to avoid spreading the virus
after swab is taken or quarantine finished for 14 days n patient is stable and if symptoms persist please contact your doctor who advised these medications as may need change
also keep track of patients blood pressure

Dry cough is side effect of ziscar but first rule out covid due to pandemic

thank you for your query. Does she have any other symptoms like fever, loss of smell, loose motions, body aches, tiredness or anything else? If so then keep a high suspicion for any respiratory infection including covid19, if your area is experiencing a surge of cases. Moreover, dry cough can also be a side effect of ziscar(lisinopril). kindly, add more details. I hope the above information may aid you.

Thankfully, she does not have all those symptoms you've mentioned. Just dry coughs.

Hello. is there any fever or difficulty in breathing?? Loss of smell?? We need to rule out respiratory tract infection alongwith COVID19.. usually cough and headache come under the side effects of Ziscar which she has been taking for 2 years..
But if there are any other symptoms, then we need to further investigate..

You may get her checked by the primary physician if the symptoms are not settling.. for headache she may take Tab panadol 500mg 2 tabs as per need

Is she experiencing any fever, nose block or Dec sense of smell?
Dry cough is most common side effect of Ziscar. So it needs to be replaced.
For now you can do is:
1. Maintain bo and temperature charting.
2. Isolate herself in recent wake of pandemic for at least 14 daysand use mask to avoid spread if any.
3. Consult your physician to adjust dose of Ziscar or replace it with Tb Cozaar.
4. Take regular steam inhalation.
5. Avoid chilled and sour drinks, foods.
6. Eat less oily more healthy food to maintain healthy lifestyle.
Note: 1. Consult your treating physician before doing any changes in drug dosage or regimen.
Note 2. If at any point she feels difficulty in breathing monitor oxygen saturation by pulse oximeter and consult nearby hospital or Arrange oxygen cylinder at home to maintain saturation above 94%.

Walaikumasalam,
Thankfully, she does not have all those symptoms you've mentioned.
Just dry coughs which have reduced after stopping Ziscar ( recommended by our physician )

take plain water steam 2 times a day for 15 to 20 mins
avoid cold things chilled water etc n sour things
take hot beverages
keep monitoring bp n pulse
make a chart on daily basis
if any breath problem happens take her immediately to emergency
continue rest of treatment
please get her tested for covid19 and take appointment
As there is no history of fever or flu mentioned in question so my opinion is to stop Ziscar immediately and start Tansin 50 mg once a day , you can add Olcuf 1 TSF thrice a day .
