Asking for Other, Male, 16 years old, Pakistan

Kindly recommend for CBC report attached herewith. WBC is low. CBC test was carried out when fever 99-101 was coming. Dengue and malaria test was also carriedout which come negative. But CBC report is showing low WBC (2.7). Fever ends with panadol after 3 days. Not repeated. One physician saheb told that nothing to worry about as in case if viral fever, WBC comes low. Please elaborate.

Kindly attach ur cbc report. Fever with low wbc mainly suggestive of typhoid but its not diagnostic so go for blood culture

General Practitioner in Lahore - Dr. Sirhan Zaib

Sudden development of fever in most cases points that there is an infectous process going on in the body.
Additionally most infections cause increase wbc count but there are some bugs which can cause decrease in wbc, as you mention is your case. Among those bugs viruses are a very common cause, followed by typhoid bacteria.
To understand what is causing this problem you have to tell the history of patient when the blood tests were done. By any chance did the patient had any runny nose, sore throt, cough, any pain in abdomen or problem with stools?

No sir no abdominal pain, runny nose , soar throat or cough. Fever itself ended completely after 3 days with panadol only.
Now he is fine for last one week.
One top physician in Karachi opined that it was a viral fever and due to this very reason wbc came low, not to worry,
He suggested that wbc can be done again for satisfaction.

I understand... Most viral infections are self limiting, i-e they will go away without any medication.

General Practitioner in Karachi - Dr. Nayyar Ahsan

patient can take vitamin C, vit B 12 and zinc to increase WBC count.

General Practitioner in Rawalpindi - Dr. Kulsoom Bibi

The possibilities are
Dengue
Typhoid
Viral infections

As patient is well now on his own
This indicates a viral cause.

Repeat CBC after a while
