Asking for Father, Male, 65 years old, Bhakkar
My father have Hemorrhoids from past 10 years due to sitting full day in office. Now doctor said to go for operation but he is very weak he is 65 year old and HB is 7.4 he had done his Hepatitis C treatment 5 years back. Now we want to know the possibility and risk factors of Hemorrhoids Operation. Will he bear the operation?

Asa Best is to have him investigated with a upper GI endoscopy and a colonoscopy first as a hemaoglobin of 7.4 could be something sinister
he can undergo haemorrhoidal surgery well he is fit for anaesthesia with low Hb%
It is not a major surgery but he should be assessed properly before hemorrhoid surgery to rule out other serious problems and then surgery can be done so he should attend surgery clinic
Get his ultrasound abdomen and pelvis. And after examination we can plan for surgery. Surgical treatment will be good.

Thanks for asking medical advice, I think you make a virtual appointment and we will look all aspect of significantly low Hb 7.4 as it has been very alarming or red flag sign. whether it is iron or non iron deficiency anaemia. Unlikely haemorrhoids be developed by long day sitting in office. if haemorrhoids have been diagnosed, its treatment varies according to the degree of haemorrhoids first, second or third degree. It is not necessary to have operation but it will be well assessed on consultant.
Your father shud see a surgeon. No one can tell u what u ask with examining him.
Hepatitis C though not contraindication of operation,your patient need proper anesthesia evaluation seeing liver status, assessing risk factors and then leading to plan..!!

obviously he can bear it if he don't have other ailments like cardiac disease, that too can be addressed,. but you need to built up his hb first

Dera Patient, Hb is too low. It is dangerous, first step is to give 2 units of blood atleast, secnd step is necessary bllod test specially liver function test and blood clotting test, if test are normal, than I can do hemorrhoid operation to prevent further blood loss. Ur pt needs complete evaluation from hepatic and fitness for GA. And colonoscopy should be done to rule out any secondary cause of haemorrhoid. Operation can be done with least risk after proper optimization.

He needs a detailed physical examination and perhaps a few more tests.
First of all, all conditions around the anus are mistakenly called haemorrhoids, which they are not. So clinical examination is the first thing to be dobe , mustly by a qualified surgeon.
Secondly considering his low Hb, we need to find the cause for that, coz sometimes cancer of intestine can present with low Hb and hemorrhoids.
In summary , i cant give you an exact answer before examining the patient.
Uncomplicated haemorrhoids' surgery is no big issue in experienced hands and can be done safely after correction of Hb level.
