Hi. It’s my first pregnancy and I’m almost 38 weeks pregnant and the baby’s head is still not engaged. My doctor checked me internally 2 days ago and said the os was closed but my pelvis size is OK. She also did a sweep. I spotted for a day after that but that’s it. My questions are as follows:
1) when will the head engage? 2) if it doesn’t engage and if there is no dilation, can I still be induced? My friend was still induced despite these 2 things and delivered normally. But my OB/GYN says she’ll go for a c-section 3) anything I can do to induce labour/dilation naturally?
Keep yourself mobile nd wait for two more weeks .
these are local guidline..... otherwise full trial of labour is indicated in first pregnancy......only head presentation is needed.....this is another case that unengaged head and poor bishop take long trial of labour.....

But is induction contraindicated with non engagement and no dilation? The baby has been cephalic longitudinal lie since a long time now. But still not engaging.

My doctor already did a membrane sweep on 37 weeks 2 days. I spotted a little. After that I’ve been constantly losing some yellowish mucus over the last 2 days with some mild cramping in the vagina.
Could it be the mucus plug? Does it signify any possible dilation or that labour could be nearby?

Aoa.... Usually head engagement occur at 38 weeks in most of the patients.. U can wait upto 40 weeks... For natural induction go for sweeping twice a week.. Non engaged head is not a contraindication to induction of labour... U can b induced with low threshold for c /s..
