Talk to Gynecologist on Minor Thalassemia
Asking for Husband, Male, 28 years old, Karachi
My wife has minor thalassemia and it is her second pregnancy (first was miscarriage). Age: 28 Pregnancy: 11weeks HB: 7.8 And our doctor recommend us to use venofer, can you pls confirm me that can we use venofer in the 1 trimester in this situation?

Aoa she can take only oral Iron tablets. Injectable iron is contra indicated. So plz no venofer throughout pregnancy and after. If needed blood transfusion. It is ok to maintain her HB 9-10. Thanks

if she is symptomatic, kindly do blood transfusion ,must do a serum ferritin for any coexistence iron deficiency anaemia which is corrected with oral iron ,start on folic acid as well if not taking yet
