I am facing lectation issue. I cant feed my 3months baby twice a day. Nipples are cracked. I have tried massaging my breasts with olive oil/coconut oil, tried dipping in salty warm water but no use. I've visited a specialist and she mentioned that the nipples are not properly formed and flow is restricted as only a couple of milk streams are coming. She also mentioned that there is infection and prescribed pain killers and Augmentin. I did the course but still facing pain during and after feeding. Kindly guide how can we increase the flow and what is the cause of pain, cracks and infection.
Wrong positioning can cause all these problems. Kindly get proper instructions from internet regarding breastfeeding positions and apply provate-G cream 3 times a day to each side alternately and don't feed the baby from that side on the day of application of cream..
You should also change your feeding style. Put the nipple and the black skin behind it in babies mouth so that it does not pull on the nipple. You can take help from internet to see the images. And use nipcare cream 3 times to apply on the nipples after you have fed the baby. Also get your baby checked some times there is infection in babies mouth which leads to mother's nipple infection.
