Asking for Self, Female, 37 years old, Lahore
Salam.i m admitted in hospital due to water rupture at 28+3. AFI has been reduced to 6. Under medications, drs are trying to prolong pregnancy.i wanted to ask if the baby born is around 1.1kg and Gest.age is 29+weeks,what are the chances of survival at this stage.already given betamethasone and MgSO4 shots. Please please need valuable advice from the experts.
As long as there are no signs of infection pregnancy should be prolonged till around 34-36 weeks as survival rate is poor below 30 weeks MgSo4 should be given when delivery is planed in next 24 hours to get maximum benefit but Still if you are in the hospital there’s no rush pregnancy should be prolonged as every single day inside is good for baby
Though with baby weight of 1.1kg has poor chances of survival but with best neonatal care outcome can be much better. Every single day inside the uterus is precious for baby. As AFI is 6, pregnancy can be prolonged as long as possible provided there is no infection or any other reason for early delivery. Use sterilized pad. Other management ur doctors would have doing well. wish you all the best.
