Talk to Hematologist on High WBC S (50000)

My grandmother has reported with high WBC s count ( especially granulocytes), total count of wbc is reported 50 thousands. Is it due to infection or serious condition like cancer. Can it requires further investigation or wait. Now Dr prescribed antibiotic ( inj meropenem twice a day) for 6 days .
