Asking for Mother, Female, 70 years old, Gujranwala
My mother has idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP ) last 23 years. She got ger spleenectomy done at that time but plates count didn't improve. Her platelet count is less than 10,000. We have been getting her checked from medical specialist who had put her on steroids but she is having random bleeds from nose, teeth, throat. Can someone please guide us if there is any cure? And who should we consult?
First of all dear you should take her in emergency department urgently if she is bleeding excessively. she might need platelet transfusion and further management to stop bleeding.
Yes dear there are immunosuppressive agents given for ITP.
You should consult hematologist for this issue.
Yes there is, please come and see me at my clinic
