It is a drug which can affect the kidney and cancer of the stomach diabetics should never take it. A newer class of anti convulsants or aceotoaminophen is recommended

It is relatively safe but its use for longer duration can cause stomach upset and can also cause renal problems.
So if longer use is required always consult your physician first.
