Talk to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon on Liquid Diet Due To Mandibular Fracture
Asking For Someone else, Brother, Male, 35 Years old, karachi
His jaw has been fractured and clipped for around 3 weeks. 1 week has passed but his liquid intake is less and now he’s feeling weakness. For 1 week he has take date milkshake, chicken broth, mango shake, blended khichdi/ custard. Apple and beetroot juice and taking every 2-3 or 4 hrs . Is there anything we should increase or make his diet so that weakness feeling can be suppressed

You can add Ensure, add 3 tablespoons in water or milk, 3 times a day. if the patient is diabetic then use Glucerna.
for 3 weeks he can only take a liquid diet. you can increase the frequency of intake and add meat broth as well(beef or mutton) that will help.

Please do not worry. it's alright it happens as patient is not taking solid diet because we need to keep the fractured segments intact and in place with oit movement. Give him B-Sure or Ensure supplement twice daily for 3 weeks.

You can use food suppliments like Ensure powder, 4 tbsp in 250ml water for upto 3 times a day. Better to consult your surgeon before using it. Fresh fruit juices, mutton and vegetable soups are good options too. Ask your consultant to make a customised diet chart for him. Good Luck.

His age is 36 and on first follow up dr said kay right now cleanliness seems good. And will see if on 2nd week we will only cut wire (not confirm) but most probably ln 3rd week will remove clipping. Acc to his report he has condyle both sides and mandibular fracture

atleast 4 weeks of IMF if treatment plan is close reduction as you are saying followed by elastics for 2 weeks, in total 6 weeks.
