Asking for Mother, Female, 63 years old, Pindi

My mother has severe headache followed by high blood pressure. CT scan revealed an archnoid cyst. Report is included. Doctor suggested the medicine Epival 500mg Citanew 10mg Stemetil 5mg

My question is how are these medicines which are antidepressants, anti seziure and vomiting stopper can possibly help to shrink cyst? What is the best treatment in this seceniario?

Member of Marham-Forum

Dear,
these medications can not shrink the arachnoid cyst. these are for symptomatic relief only. the definite treatment of symptomatic posterior fossa arachnoid cyst is by surgery. please share images of scan and book an appointment for definite further plan if management.
regards.

Usually these cysts are not dangerous. Most of the time no need to remove. It can not be shrunken by medicine. If problematic then may be removed surgically.
For the details of any medicine you should check its details on internet which are easily available. This forum is not suitable for such minor things.

Hi,Mostly these cysts are asymptomatic and incidental finding. Your mother is treated symptomatically.Possibly your consultant has got something in history suggestive of depression. Moreover Epival is not just anti seizure medication but a mood stabilizer as well...

You need to consult a Neurosurgeon in your area. As this case should be dealt by a Neurosurgeon.Cyst is small but location matters. Medicines can't shrink the size of the cyst. For final treatment plan MRI films need to be seen.
