Asking for Self, Male, 32 years old, Karachi
I have been having pain in my right hand (source of pain is in the wrist but pain is felt in whole arm but it feels like the pain is in the nerves) for almost 10 days now (without any physical damage or apparent cause). So I went to see a doctor, who recommended EMG test to rule out Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
I have just received the result now and I am looking for your opinion on what to do next? I would appreciate the help.

This report shows that you have ulnar neuropathy, which means there is compression on your ulnar nerve, leading to abnormal nerve conduction and slowing of signals at your elbow. You need surgical decompression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow to relieve this condition. Please visit a nearby neurosurgeon who has experience in dealing with peripheral nerves.
Ulnar neuropathy
Initial conservative mangement with medication for neuropathic pain. Avoid elbow flexion. Avoid elbow resting on firm surfaces (tables, rigid armrests in motor vehicles). A soft elbow gel-pad may help. Results are often better when definite traumatic etiology can be identified and eliminated. If conservative mangement fails then surgery for nerve entrapment.
Dear, it is not carpel tunnel syndrom (in capel tunnel u get compression of nerve in ur wrist). you have ulnar nerve compression at your elbow joint, which is causing pain in ur arm and hand. There are multiple causes like any fracture, entrapment of this nerve in ligaments or muscles, sometimes due to excessive repetitive movements of a particular joint. Mostly, it can be totally reversible just by medicines and proper positioning of ur forearm. Most of the times u dont need surgery. But, if it doesn't resolve, then u might need surgery.
Salam. Need to examine properly for proper diagnosis... Report suggests ulnar nerve compression, which is a nerve in our arm. Its not carpal tunnel bcz another nerve called median is involved it it....
ulnar nerve can be comprssed at 3 places, in wrist, behind elbow or in forearm... examination and proper history would help to localize...
10 days is too early for any surgery.
I would recommend medicine and some physiotherapy initially to see the response...
If you want, you can book video consultation via marham for proper discussion and pain management medication...moreover I would suggest a small screening mri of cervical spine to rule out any associated disc compression... if u hv one done already then its fine ..
it shoes ulnar neuropathy which is basically a nerve issue but of other nerve of arm other than carpal tunnel, is their any history of trauma even in the past or repetitive movement of elbow? would recommend a detailed examination from a neurosurgeon before jumping to any conclusions.
It’s ulnar Nerve Neuropathy. Consult your doc again
