Count Your Calories
The best way to keep your stomach satisfied and keep a check on your weight is to watch the calories you consume. Make healthier snack choices. Things like plain yoghurt, nuts, flaxseeds, fruits, salads, and lean meat can cater to your appetite and help you lose weight.
Stay away from foods that produce gas. Food items such as urad dal, chole, chawali, rajma, chana, besan, pickles, green peas, dry peas and vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, bhindi, broccoli and onions should be avoided for at least 40 days from the day of delivery.
Foods high in vitamin C are oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, melons, and papayas. Foods high in iron are red meats, liver, dried beans, dried fruits, and iron enriched cereals. It is important to drink plenty of fluids. Drinking fluids helps prevent dehydration and constipation.
Avoid filling up on pastries (croissants, muffins, danishes) or cereals for breakfast. They tend to be high in sugar and carbs, which can spike your insulin levels, leading to an eventual energy crash and can perpetuate sugar cravings.
Try to include unprocessed foods from the five food groups. If you're opting for yogurt (a favorite breakfast food), look for brands that don't add any extra sugar.
If you need a bit of sweetness, use fresh or frozen fruit or sweeten with a bit of honey or cereals for breakfast. They tend to be high in sugar and carbs, which can spike your insulin levels, leading to an eventual energy crash and can perpetuate sugar cravings.
