HER 2 Patient

Question

My mother has been under treatment in Shaukat Khanam for 3 years now after being diagnosed with stage 3 and was given chemo after every 21 days for 2 years almost. She was given combination of herceptance, protzumab and docetexyl. That treatment has stopped since 3 months now and after using other combination of medicine like ZeeGap, Tramadol, Morphin, now oncologist has suggested Lapatinib or TDM 1 to control the cancer. I want to know the effectiveness of this medicine and if someone can suggest me a good oncologist in Lahore to have a second opinion.

Further therapy depends upon the condition of the patient. It seems that your mother is already recieving palliative therapy. Before considering more therapy we also need to evaluate her current heart status, her performance status and other comorbid conditions.

Out of the two, TDM1 is clearly a better option after failure of first line therapy. It's better not only in terms of response rates but also it has far less side effects as compared to lapatinib. Cost of therapy will be another major issue. Thank you
