Asking For Brother, Male 17, Hyderabad
My younger brother who is 17 years old is suffering from shortness of breath while laying down on bed he has also chest congestion and cough 2 years ago he was diagnosed with t-cell lymphoma an oncologist did his treatment by chemotherapy and steroids he got fully recover from it nowadays his maintenance phase of lymphoma is undergoing with (VCR) Vincristine iv every month, can any pediatric oncologist help us for chest congestion and shortness of breath?
Please get a chest x-ray and CBC done before discussing any medicine.
when was the last chemo session done
it's unlikely that the symptoms are due to chemotherapy.
most likely it's due to some seasonal infection.
Please consult a nearby emergency deptt and take medicine as advised.
if last session was done on 11th April then this condition could be due to chemo.
White cell count is low but absolute count is okay.
most likely is due to seasonal infection

I see you have sought attention of Dr zohair. kindly adhere to his advice. Yes Levofloxacin is OK for now. If your brother doesn't improve on current medication in 3 days then you need to get antibiotics reviewed. kindly also share last followup scan and Echocardiography.
Best regards
Your son is patient of Dr Noureen Mushtaq , Peads Oncologist AKUH. Visit AKUH ER for further assistance. It’s better you seek a physical consultation .
I will recommend that he merits a clinical examination of his chest, blood test and radiological investigations to elucidate cause for his symptoms. Patients with lymphoma are immune comprised and can have all sorts of infections (bacterial, viral, fungal, tuberculos). In addition, one need to rule out relapse of lymphoma as well. Hence based upon your description, it’s not ethical and medically appropriate to suggest treatment for chest infection. I believe that best way forward is to get back in touch with the oncologist who is treating your brother. Best wishes
