Asking for Self Female 28 , Karachi
I'm 28 years old female, known case of hypothyroidism. I take 50mcg thyroxine for it. Since yesterday, I've had this excruciating back pain that starts at a spot near the right of my spine and sort of feels as a current down my leg. It waxes and wanes, from becoming very mild such that I'm able to move about, do house work to becoming extremely severe, that I have to either sit or lie down. Cough, sneeze, the movements in prayers, straining (as in toilet) seems to make it worse, often to the extent that I hold my breath, readjust myself and resume breathing.
I'm not in Pakistan, so please guide me, what can I do to heal this pain at home, any medication that I should take or apply or, if I have to visit a doctor, who should I visit as in a GP or an orthopedic or someone else. I've been applying topical pain killers and took Panadol as well but nothing seems to work long term.

It seems like you are having sciatica. It will take 2 to 3 months to resolve. Better to see a local GP for bed rest, pain medication and physio. All the best
