Asking for Other, Male, 1.5 years old, Islamabad
Asalamu alaikum doctor , my baby is 1.5 year old . I was in Karachi since 2 months and I came back to Islamabad on Thursday night . On Sunday morning , my bAby woke up with high fever around 101-2. I gave him infants panadol 1.6 ml and then the fever went down . I kept giving him every 5 hours and he was fine mA shaa Allah and playing . On Monday , I didn’t give him panadol for 12 hours as there was no fever but then the fever came back so gave him again after 12 hours . TodAy again in the morning he’s burning up . There is no other visible symptom other than fever . I don’t know if it’s the sudden weather change or the cold yoghurt we fed him the night before the fever or something else . Can you please help ? Thanks
important is look for focus of infection. you need to get him examined by a physician
Fever with out any other symptoms such as cough, cold, diarrhoea etc warrants a physical examination by a qualified Paediatrician to rule out an underlying serious infection.

But the fever goes away with panadol ,
Does any fever because of a serious infection go away with panadol ???
There is also no loss of appetite and he’s cheerful mA shaa Allah when the fever fades away , does all this still signal something serious ?

It may not be any thing serious, but without seeing the child no Paediatrician can be sure to dismiss it altogether especially in a young child.
As a carer you can use your own judgement to decide whether a clinical review is needed or you are happy to observe at home
for any fever
just record the fever, give antipyretics like panadol or brufen and visit nearby pediatrician to see what's the focus
