Talk to Pediatrician on Clotted Blood Injected

person-avatar

Asking for Other, Male, 5 years old, Lahore

Assalam o alaikum I'm really worried about my five months old son. My son is going through an injection course of five days. This is an IV injection that is injected in veins through branula. This is the third day of injection. His blood clotted in his vein and a person injected the liquid medicine pushing his clotted blood in his vein. Is there any harm of clotted blood as this clot will be circulating in the blood and tell me about the treatment of this. I will be very grateful to you. Thanks

Walaikum Assalam. It happens always normally when you have a cannula in place and it is not in use round the clock. We have to wash cannula with normal saline if is blocked due to a clot. This clot resolves spontaneously and does not cause any harm to patient. Nothing to worry. May your child get well soon.
