Talk to Pediatrician on Constipation

My sisters son age 6 month is having severe constipation she started giving him banana and egg yolk mixed with breastmilk. He only poops when suppository is given. My questions are how often she can give him suppository because he doesn’t poops 4-5 days. Because I heard prune juice is not for babies under 1 year. Please help

Since You have asked about Suppository. You should use it after 5 days of constipation. Make sure the baby is being fed properly. What you need is to calculate the total Calorie requirement of the baby. You can use syrups like Fibo 1/2 tea spoon at night. Avoid honey. Prefer breast milk over cow milk. It is important to tell since when this child is having constipation, is it for a few days, month or since birth?
Constipation is common when introducing solid foods. Bananas and egg yolks can be binding, so try offering high-fiber foods like pears, prunes (in small amounts), or oatmeal. Ensure adequate hydration with breastmilk/formula. Glycerin suppositories should be used sparingly and not as a long-term solution. If constipation persists, stools are hard, or the baby is in discomfort, consult a pediatrician for guidance.
