This report shows that the Thyroid gland of your nephew is functioning at below normal level. This is the only treatable cause of Developmental Delay. Does he have any constipation, dry skin or coarse hair? Your nephew needs replacement therapy with Levothyroxine. If not yet prescribed you may start with 1 1/2 (one and a half) of 25 micrograms tables (Total does 37.5 micrograms) once daily, to be increased by 10-25 micrograms after every 2-4 weeks in the light of follow up test results. The maintenance does is 25-75 micrograms daily. A test of Serum T4 and TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) Levels should be done after 4 weeks and then 3 monthly. If your nephews doctors are suspecting any other cause of his delayed milestones then MRI Brain is preferable over CT Brain.
